Is Hummer H2 a luxury car?

The Hummer H2 was the poster child for GM and the time when SUVs won the automotive scene.

For the majority of the H2 's existence, everything remained relatively unchanged, except for the 2008 driving and interior update. Sadly, in the middle of the 2009 model year, GM halted H2 production, before killing Hummer's division in 2010 in the middle of financial troubles and the "Great Recession."

The 2006 model year is the centerpiece of the H2. It also marks the start of the end, with sales downward spiraling at a breakneck pace. However, in an audacious fashion, the H2 soldier continued. Its squared jaw, great V-8, and its robust suspension kept him highly respected by Hollywood enthusiasts. Everyone wanted the H2, no matter whether they purchased one or not.

Interior

Despite the sharing of many parts, the interior of the H2 looked like nothing else in the GM portfolio. The center squared stack fitted with individual control compartments, each with a separated positioning of radio, HVAC, OnStar, and 4WD buttons. The driver was sitting behind a steering wheel and jacket cluster similar to the ones found in the Suburban and Yukon, which are other full-sized vehicles of GM. The transmission shifter was unique to the H2, with a four-speed automatic transmission with an L-shaped grip. There were bucket seats on the front, separated by a center console, and a large warehouse with two cup holders. There was a three-person bench seat for backseat passengers. A single passenger could use a third-row one-seater stuck in the cargo area by the replacement tire.

Exterior

The H2 borrowed from their big brother, Hummer H1, the American civil version, many styling businesses. The square body of the HUMVEE military, the ventilated cap and the fake helicopter hovers, and the angled rocker panel just in front of the back tire-everything pulled subjects from the H1. That gave the H2 certainly an air of manhood and hardness.

Drivetrain

The output remained unchanged until GM replaced the 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 in 2008.

All four wheels received power from a full-time 4WD system in the back-axle. The torque split could be locked equally between the front and rear when it got rough and 4WD.

The H2 has come equipped with an electronically-operated Eaton rear difference, as opposed to most other GM SUVs and trucks. The back axle would lock the two rims together at the same speed by pushing a button, thereby providing H2 with higher traction in slippery surroundings. The mechanical locker G80 from Eaton is used by most other GM vehicles with rear locking differentials. The Hummer H2 was the weak point of fuel economy.  It is no wonder that H2 weighs 6,400 pounds and, brick aerodynamics which combines four-speed cars and V-8 power.

Off-Road

The frame of the H2 was a unique component conglomeration. Also, the beefy framework secured all the critical parts of H2 and enabled the truck to slip through rock sinkers or tanks without fear. The components were protected further by thick skid plates. On the H2, the rocker panels against off-road damage by standard rock slide.
